Artist of the day: Boy Wonder
Funny and fresh with creative jones that stems from his years in the studio, Tampa's Boy Wonder pulls from diverse influences - Sublime, Brazilian funk, Talib Kweli - to create a sound all his own. Bloggers have lately been picking up on Skai Hai, his single with Two, as well as its hyperkinetic video, filmed at Tampa International Airport. But his other songs make him an artist worth watching.
Future single Idiot is more of a pop-rock tune, while Baddest Man Alive relies on kick drums and electric guitars to build into a swaggering, psychedelic rap rave. At the same time, he's got the vocal skills to back up claims that he's the best. "Your whole style, played out like a two-way / I'm the new hip-hop hoo-ray / y'all are faker than a toupee," he raps on I Wanna Rock Freestyle.
