Artist of the day: Bracher Brown
He’s only 17, but Orlando singer-songwriter Bracher Brown has some solid collaborations under his belt. His co-writing credits include material with members of Sister Hazel and .38 Special, and later this month, he’ll head to South Carolina to record three songs with Hootie and the Blowfish guitarist Mark Bryan.
Brown cites influences ranging from James Taylor to John Mayer to Zac Brown. He has the teenage-heartthrob voice working — think a slightly more countrified blend of Jason Mraz and Duncan Shiek — but because he’s just starting out, he’s taken to performing at an unconventional local venue: The Carmel Cafe, which has locations in Clearwater and Carrollwood. On Saturday from 9 p.m. to midnight, he’ll be at the Clearwater cafe, 2548 McMullen Booth Road. Click here for details.
