Artist of the day: A Brilliant Lie
Orlando indie pop-punk group A Brilliant Lie will appeal to any fans of the Joy Formidable and Paramore, not only for their catchy, edgy songs, but also for their passionate live shows.
Singer-guitarist Tara Lightfoot’s warble is not unlike that of Sleater-Kinney’s Corin Tucker, and her bandmates — Tim Cook-Berry, James Christopher Lane and Zach Teman — surround her with an intense aural environment. And if that’s not enough to convince you to check them out, their first EP, Regarding Harry Lime, features a track called Death Don’t Pony Up For Gas, which gets its name from an episode of Mystery Science Theater 3000. Awesome.
