Artist of the day: The cast of 'Seven Guitars'

They're actors, yes. But in August Wilson's Seven Guitars, they must also be musicians.

The play, continuing through Feb. 26 at American Stage in St. Petersburg, tells the story of blues singer Floyd "Schoolboy" Barton and his band. Barton, played by Joshua Elijah Reese, and the rest of the cast are all given "at least one sizzling solo," writes John Fleming in his review of the production. So they rely on their own unique musical talents. Kim Sullivan plays the harmonica. Alan Bomar Jones was a high school drum major.

So for fans of drama as well as of the blues, Seven Guitars is a show not to miss. Click here for Fleming's interview with sullivan and Jones, and click here for info on upcoming performances of Seven Guitars.
