Artist of the day: Circle Sky
If you attended New Port Richey's Rocktemberfest in September, you might have noticed a rock band performing Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon in its entirety.
That would be Circle Sky, whose qualifications as a classic rock tribute band are bona fide. Singer-guitarist Mark Alan has performed as John Entwistle in the Who tribute band The Wholigans, and Alan and occasional keyboardist John Zahner collaborate on Ascension, a Yes tribute.
Along with bassist-vocalist Tim Cronin (who's also in the band CFM) and drummer Billy Isner, Circle Sky plays a long list of covers, specializing in British Invasion music and rock of the '60s and '70s. You can often find them performing at the Seaside Inn in Port Richey, as well as venues like the Zone Lounge in Tarpon Springs.
If you feel like hitting the beach this fine December weekend, good news: Circle Sky has two gigs lined up at the Beach Bar in Clearwater Beach -- one Friday, one Saturday. Click here for details.
