Artist of the day: Claiborne

Like fellow local rockers Automatic Loveletter, Claiborne have whip-smart chops and a cute blond singer (Tiffany Francum), but that’s not the only reason they’re one of Tampa’s up-and-coming groups to watch.

After Francum joined the lineup last year, the band (Danny Ortiz, Danzel Vaughn, Scott Black and Brian McKay) landed an opening slot at December’s 97X Next Big Thing concert at the Ford Amphitheatre, and they just released their EP, De Stella Nova . And as for the comparisons to Automatic Loveletter (and Paramore, and Flyleaf, and on and on ... )? “To us, we’re just a rock band that happens to have a girl singer,” McKay says, “not the other way around.”
