Artist of the day: DJ Short-e
If you don't know DJ Short-e from his work spinning top 40 hits and videos at clubs like Whiskey North, Malio's, and Hyde Park Cafe, you might know him from his own TV show.
That's right, for a few years in the mid-2000s, the New York/Miami/Tampa DJ hosted The Short-e Show, which mixed celebrity interviews, music videos and other club lifestyle features, and aired on Tampa's UPN 44 a few years back. Among Short-e's guests: Wyclef, Akon, Flo Rida, Pitbull, Ne-Yo and more. Short-e's celebrity connections have paid off -- in February, he hosted Diddy's annual Super Bowl party in Miami.
Like Diddy, he's an aspiring mogul -- he's also the founder of TampaHotSpots.com and Hot4Eva Records -- and he's still working to grow the Short-e brand. He still posts plenty of interviews and behind-the-scenes videos to his YouTube channel. Last weekend, he hosted a party at the Hard Rock commemorating the anniversary of Michael Jackson's death.
The latest bash Short-e (a.k.a. Erik Mishiyev) is hyping is "Champagne Saturdays" at Tina Tapa's at Channelside in Tampa, which is sure to be a hotspot this weekend thanks to the July Fourth celebration. There's no cover from 9 p.m. to close, plus half off drinks and appetizers until midnight and $ wells all night. Check out Short-e's website for the details.
