Artist of the day: Don Juceam
Ol' Blue Eyes is long gone, but if you're looking for a taste of the Italian legend, you can always turn to Tampa Bay's top Frank Sinatra impersonator: Don Juceam.
Juceam started doing Sinatra in 2000 after moving to Florida following a career in sales and marketing. "I had always been in a chorus wherever I lived, but it was my time to really develop it when I arrived in Tampa," he said. "I recoreded a lot of favorite Sinatra and Rat Pack favorites, started doing parties as a hobby biz, then it turned into a real biz, and I went full-time in 2004."
Since then, he's performed at big-time corporate weddings, huge Gasparilla parties and much more, delivering Sinatra's standards and songs from other hitmakers like Dean Martin, Nat King Cole and Tony Bennett.
On Friday, Juceam will host Frankly Sinatra & Friends, from 7 p.m. to midnight at the T. Pepin Hospitality Centre, 4121 N 50th St., Tampa. There's an Italian dinner and cash bar. It's $50 per person or $90 per couple.
"I’ll be highlighting the great music of Sinatra and the great singers of the American songbook rather than the shallow partier side of the Sinatra lifestyle and will have a very large orchestra to accompany me," he said. "I’m trying to pass on the legacy of this genre to the youngsters today."
