Artist of the day: The DOOD
Sarasota's The Dood is a hard rock outfit that combines classic metal with nu-grunge elements -- crunchy, spiraling guitars and growling vocals. Think Godsmack, Disturbed or Pantera.
The band has been around since 2006, and over the past four years, their chops have earned them slots opening for the likes of Steven Adler, Sick Puppies and Cold. Despite parting ways with singer Mike "Boxzilla" Stockton earlier this year, they're writing new songs and preparing to hit the studio in 2011.
And that name? It stands for "Distinguished Order Of Disobedience," which you gotta love.
