Artist of the day: The Edisons




If you're into rock and power pop from the '60s, '70s, '80s and '90s, The Edisons are for you.

Singer-guitarist Tom Errico, bassist Al Erhart, guitarist Nick Bostinto and drummer Roger Gabbey came of age around the country, but gathered in Florida years ago. Errico and Bostinto have played together for 17 years. Gabbey, the most recent addition, is a Tampa scene veteran who joined in 2007. "We all have full time jobs," Erhart said, "and do it for the fun, our fans, and not the money."

When the band plays live, they play a slew of covers by artists ranging from Badfinger and the Rolling Stones to the Gin Blossoms and Smithereens. They also play their own songs, which were collected on the 2005 CD Lost In The Dream. Recorded at Steve Connelly's Zen Recording, Lost In The Dream is a mix of jangly power-pop in the vein of Roy Orbison, the Beatles and the Cars.
