Artist of the day: Fifty Five South

St. Louis native Ken Apperson fronts Fifty Five South, a soulful pop-rock band that will appeal to fans of John Mayer, Maroon 5 and Matt Nathanson. Apperson’s funky guitar style and clever lyrics have made him a popular performer at bars and festivals around town, and has won him raves like this excellent Creative Loafing headline: “Black people love Ken Apperson: How a Skinny White Boy Gets Down.” Check out their quality video for the single Bad Intentions here.
On Thursday, Fifty Five South will perform selections from Apperson’s album Puzzle Pieces with a show at Crowbar. Empire Cinema and Kamikaze Eggrolls are also on the bill. Click here for details.
