We’re less than a week from St. Patrick’s Day. To celebrate, we’re paying tribute to some of Tampa Bay’s top Celtic folk and rock bands. Today: The Fightin' Malones.

Home: Tampa

Members: Tom Cook, vocals/guitar, Beth Cook, vocals; Don Butler, bass; K. Paul Boyev, guitar; Neil Leonard, mandolin, Burt Rushing, drums

Their sound: Irish rock that’s traditional yet a whole lot of fun. The band plays bluegrass ballads with upbeat songs from the likes of Flogging Molly and the Pogues. “We play the music of the people that work hard all week, and want to have some serious fun on the weekend,” the band states in their bio.

This week: On March 17, they’ll perform from 1 to 4 p.m. at downtown Dunedin’s St. Patrick’s Day festival, then from 5 to 9 p.m. they’ll be at the Dubliner North in Westchase.
