Artist of the day: The Hot Rod Hornets
The Hot Rod Hornets play “traditional rockabilly music,” which they consider the purest, earliest form of rock 'n’ roll. The group — Mark Nathans on guitar and vocals, David Ballarini on upright bass and vocals and Frank Baptie on drums — list influences like Johnny Cash, Carl Perkins, Eddie Cochran and Gene Vincent.
The St. Petersburg trio will perform at the Burg’s Ale and the Witch on Saturday “for pre-Christmas rockabilly fun. Swing dancing is highly encouraged.” For more details on the show, click here. And if you miss them, watch out for them at the WMNF Rockabilly Ruckus on Feb. 18 at Skipper’s Smokehouse.
