Artist of the day: Hypnophonic

Teen prog prodigies Hypnophonic won't be together in Tampa for long ‚Äî guitarist Sharif "Feef" Ahmed is going off to college in the fall ‚Äî which is a shame, because their sonically adventurous style is unique in Tampa Bay.

Describing themselves as two brothers who "got tired of playing piano for hours at a time daily and decided to check out other instruments," Feef and Sami Ahmed picked up the guitar and, along with drummer John Patton, specialize in proggish but tight singles and excellent harmonies, a la Muse.

This month, they’re holed up in the studio, recording new music for the time being. But Feef says the music won't stop just yet. "It's been done before with positive results and we see no reason to stop composing with each other just because we're not in the same house anymore," he said.
