Artist of the day: Jim Bond

Polk County singer-songwriter Jim Bond is a regular presence at bars around Orlando and Clermont, with a delicate high tenor and warm acoustic guitar that sounds perfect for sitting around an evening campfire.
Bond was a member of various bands in the northeast before moving to Florida in 2003, and since then has been writing and performing as a solo artist. He recently released his first solo album, Origami Heart.
The title track is a bouncy, hand-clappy ballad, and Exception to the Rule is an emotive, driving track that's not too far from Dashboard Confessional territory. Other songs like Goods and Sunday Morning are gentle alt-folk ditties with a '90s/classic rock influence. "I actually lived out in Tampa for a year and St. Pete for another where I penned a few of these songs," he said. Sharing them with a Tampa Bay audience "will be a little bit of a homecoming for them."
