Artist of the day: Jon Oliva's Pain

Trough his metal band Savatage, Jon Oliva was one of the founding members of the Tampa Bay metal scene. And he played a key role in the formation of an even bigger band: Trans-Siberian Orchestra.
Today, his musical focus is Jon Oliva's Pain, alongside Matt LaPorte (guitar), John Zahner (keys), Christopher Kinder (drums) and Jason Jennings (bass). Since 2003, they have performed under a handful of names, building a huge fan base across the country and even overseas, thanks to their take-no-prisoners classic metal sound.
Jon Oliva's Pain will perform at 7 p.m. Friday at the State Theatre in St. Pete, alongside The Eternal Affect, Psyaxis, Thrown Alive and more. Tickets are $15-$18. After that, it's off to another tour of Europe.
