Latin jazz pianist and composer Lannie Battistini was born in Puerto Rico and graduated from the prestigious Berklee College of Music before settling in Miami, where he produced, arranged tracks for and toured with the likes of Willy Chirino, Nelson Ned and Jose Feliciano, among others.

In 1999, he played keyboards for Olga Tanon during a show at the House of Blues in Orlando that was recorded for her live album Olga Viva, Viva Olga, which won a Grammy for Best Merengue Album.

Today he lives in Brandon, where he still composes music, often through his jingle and ad scoring business, Hands in Motion -- which is also the title of his most recent album.

Battistini and his band are performing at 7:30 p.m. Friday at the Mahaffey Theatre in St. Petersburg. Tickets are $20. Click here for details.
