Artist of the day: Lauran Irion
Here's another case of a hometown girl making good far, far away from Tampa Bay.
Teen-pop singer Lauran Irion is originally from Clearwater, but she moved to California at age 14 to make a go of it in Hollywood. She's done pretty well for herself, scoring roles on Disney's I'm In The Band and ABC's Melissa and Joey. She recently landed her biggest role to date -- Laura Vaughan, the daughter of Amanda Vaughan (Leslie Bibb) on the new ABC series GCB.
So far Irion has released one song, the Miley-ish Pretty Pretty, which is available on iTunes. But you can hear more of her music on Friday, when she performs at downtown Clearwater's Spring Break Blast, opening for Ryan Star and Junior Doctor. The free block party kicks off at 5:30 p.m. on Cleveland Street, outside the Capitol Theatre. Click here for details.
