Artist of the day: Luna Blue
Luna Blue is a popular five-piece cover band that performs uptempo favorites at bars, clubs and parties all over Tampa Bay -- among them the tailgate party to the Beef 'O' Brady's Bowl in St. Petersburg. In February, they even played on the streets of St. Pete, right across from Haslam’s Book Store, for the Rock ‘n’ Roll Half Marathon. They’ve got a mix of songs ranging from classic rock (Led Zeppelin, Lynyrd Skynyrd) to pop (Katy Perry, Lady Gaga) that helps them fit into any situation.
"Rather than composing a setlist that 'checks the box' on the standard cover tunes, we try to read the crowd and mix different eras in a way that often surprises but also pleases the audience," bassist Taylor Ard said in an email. "It is often accurate to say they wanted to hear what we chose for them; they just didn’t know it until we played it."
On Sunday, Luna Blue will be performing at Skipper’s Smokehouse for a fundraiser for Hooked On Hope, a nonprofit group that raises awareness and runds for breast cancer research. They’ll be joined by Damon Fowler and Betty Fox and the Dirty Bastards. There’s a $10 suggested donation. Click here for info.
