Artist of the day: Miss Maggie

R&B singer Miss Maggie infuses her breathy club-style R&B with a high-class vibe and a bit of Ke$ha-style nastiness, a combo that's just right for clubbing in Tampa Bay circa 2011.

A native of Ketchikan, Alaska, Maggie McCann's music blends pop, soul and hip-hop, but she’s also got a soft spot for drama, poetry and literature — she has performed in The Vagina Monologues in St. Petersburg, and has a degreen in creative writing from USF. She opened for Gucci Mane at Jannus Live in 2010, and was a finalist in Wild 94.1's Hip Hop Draft Pick contest.

She's currently making the rounds in support of her new single Pumps, which drops shout-outs to Jimmy Choos, Alexander McQueens and Manolo Blahniks in the middle of a sexed-up come on: "I wanna keep my pumps on, baby, when we do our thing."

On Tuesday, she'll appear at Vintage Ultra Lounge in St. Petersburg as part of the club's Local Celebrity Tuesdays, alongside VJ Kidd Leow and others. There's no cover, and drinks are $1 with a college ID. Click here for a flyer.
