Artist of the day: Mother Night

You probably know Mother Night, even if you don't know you know them.

The band used to be called XOXO, and they produced some of the catchiest pop-rock of recent years in central Florida -- think the Shins mixed with a dash of Ben Folds. And last fall, singer Noah Kussack released the enormously catchy A Momentary Lapse in the Key of W on Tampa label 24 Hour Service Station. Soundcheck named him an Artist of the Day, and we're still digging the album.

Sadly, according to Orlando Weekly, Mother Night is calling it quits. The band (which also includes Kyle Raker, Earl Hoback and Beau Rothman) will play its final show tonight at Will's Pub in Orlando. It's a long way to drive on short notice, on a weeknight, but it may be the last time you'll get to hear bouncy indie jams like Done and Done and Life In General... for some time.

Admission is $3. Click here for the details.
