Artist of the day: The Mustache Kings

Any band who names their debut album Tickle Strip Express is all right by us.

Clearwater's Mustache Kings are serious about their facial hair, in a not-so-serious kind of way. Just check out their autobiographical musical video above.

Comedian Nick "Esqueleto" Cantone and musicians Brandon "Bonesaw" Freitag (guitar, bass) and Mark "Johnny Phonebooks" Fechter (percussion, guitar) are the Kings, who blend music and comedy a la Flight of the Conchords or Hard 'n' Phirm. "Until proven otherwise," Cantone says, "we are the world's No. 1 all-mustache comedy band." No arguments here.

So far they've played more traditional musical venues, like Dunedin Brewery and Backstage at the Tampa Improv, but this week they're moving up to the big stage -- comedically speaking. On Thursday, they'll perform at the Tampa Improv in Centro Ybor. Tickets are $7. Ages 21 and up. Click here for details.
