Artist of the day: Neon Blud

The mysterious Tampa noise-punk outfit known as Neon Blud is underground to the extreme, to the point where they don't really have a website. But that's okay - their blazingly distorted indie-metal (think the Pixies, Sonic Youth and Breeders, cranked up to 11) isn't a mainstream fit, anyway.

This much we know: The female-fronted group released a 7-inch titled Whipps through Baltimore's Fan Death Records, and have recently undergone some lineup changes, but that hasn't set them back too much. In December, they opened up for Monotonix at the Orpheum, and in July, they're going to head out west for a tour. (There are no Tampa Bay dates yet, but they will be playing in Gainesville and Pensacola. Click here for dates.
