Artist of the day: O Som Do Jazz




St. Petersburg's O Som Do Jazz is a bossa nova-inspired Brazilian jazz and pop act with a revolving lineup. 

Founder and trombonist David Manson is a longtime player in the local jazz scene, leading Helios Jazz Orchestra, playing with Bogus Pomp and leading the EMIT series, which presents international jazz and vanguard artists, has received national awards from Chamber Music America, ASCAP and the Doris Duke Charitable Foundation.

Vocalist Andrea Moraes Manson, a native Brazilian from Rio de Janeiro, and David have been married since 2002. They live in St. Petersburg.

At 7:30 p.m. Thursday, O Som Do Jazz -- including keyboardist David Cubillo, drummer Mark Feinman, bassist Alejandro Arenas, guitarist Alfredo Rivero and saxophonist Austin Vickrey -- will perform with Guisando Caliente at the Palladium Theatre in St. Petersburg. Tickets are $20. Click here.
