Artist of the day: Oceana

One of the more commercially successful young bands to emerge from the area in recent years, St. Pete's Oceana is a screamo quintet led by frontman Brennan Tualbee and guitarist/vocalist Alex Schultz.

Brennan, who replaced Keith Jones last year, handles "clean" (think normal human voice) and "screaming" (think Cookie Monster on crack) vocals. Schultz also adds clean vocals. Jack Burns (guitar), Rob Davis (bass), and Denny Augusto (drums) flesh out the lineup. Debut The Tide came out last year on Rise Records (Ever We Fall).

The band is in the middle of an April tour of the United States and Canada and has a new CD scheduled to drop May 13. They'll be back in Tampa for the final show of their tour at Czar on May 2.
