Artist of the day: Psyaxis

Earlier this month, Pinellas metal group Psyaxis performed at a cheekily titled fundraiser called “Lick Breast Cancer,” featuring an array of local metal talents. “We all know somebody who has been affected by breast cancer,” the band wrote on Facebook, “so we thought that it would be a great contribution to the community to perform for a good cause, for a good charity who doesn’t waste money, but gives the proceeds to women who are in need and have breast cancer!"

John Zambrotto’s Axl-like wail, Matt Roberts’ acrobatic guitars and Miles Neff’s thundering bass are on full display on new track Black Dawn Rising, which you can hear here. It’ll go great at their next gig, opening for ‘80s hair metal titans-turned-documentary subjects Anvil. The show is Sunday at the State Theatre; tickets are $15. Click here.
