Artist of the day: Regina AaMacha
On her song Rehoboth Beach, Regina AaMacha sings: "There ain't no other place I would rather than playin' my guitar in Rehoboth Beach."
That's not always true. AaMacha recently moved from Delaware to Safety Harbor, where she performs ear-catching music (to go along with her eye-catching name). It is plaintive, passionate, bluesy folk music that blends originals and covers in a Dar Williams/Patty Griffin sort of way.
But don't think of it as downer coffeehouse music. AaMacha has an outgoing personality that lends itself well to crowd work. She even hosts an open mic from 7 to 11 p.m. at Jolli Mon's in Dunedin. You can also find her from 8 to 11 p.m. at the Grind House in Clearwater; from 8 to 11 p.m. at 8th Avenue Pub in Safety Harbor with her band CC Beagle Head; and from 9 to 11 p.m. Thursdays at the Wine Toad in Spring Hill.
