Artist of the day: Shak Nasti
Orlando's Shak Nasti have cultivated a nice following in these parts, thanks to a strong funk-jam-jazz sound befitting their stanky-sounding name.
Singer/guitarist/synthman Tim Turner, bassist Matt Lapham and drummer Rion Smith have shared stages with George Clinton, the Spam Allstars and Col. Bruce and the Codetalkers, among others. Their sound is a little bit Phish and a little bit Curtis Mayfield, and it's guaranteed to get your booty wagging.
At 9 p.m. Friday they're performing at Yeoman's Road Pub, 236 E Davis Blvd., Tampa (Davis Islands). Tickets are $5.
