Artist of the day: Shannon Magrane
If you ever saw Joe Magrane's teenage daughter singing the national anthem before a Rays game at Tropicana Field, you might just have seen a budding pop star.
Shannon Magrane, a sophomore at Tampa's Blake High School and the daughter of the former Rays TV analyst and Major League pitcher, made it to Hollywood on this season of American Idol. She'll appear on this Thursday's program (2/9). Magrane was a unanimous choice to advance after a stirring rendition of Etta James' Something's Got a Hold of Me -- or, as you may know it, the hook to Avicii's Levels and Flo Rida's Good Feeling. If you're into spoilers, Eric Deggans has an item here about just how far Magrane might be going in Hollywood.
