Artist of the day: Shaun Hopper

Shaun Hopper is a mesmerizing talent on the acoustic guitar, a fingerstyle enthusiast who can pluck out a symphony while sitting onstage. It is folksy at times, frenetic at others, with influences that range from blues to pop to traditional Celtic ballads. And he's widely respected by other guitarheads; he's even toured with Dave Matthews guitarist Tim Reynolds.

Hopper came up in Georgia, but is a frequent presence in Tampa, especially at Skipper's Smokehouse. He'll perform there at 8 p.m. Tuesday, alongside Rob Tyre and Nic Cowan. Tickets are $7. Click here.

As an added incentive, Hopper has a new album, Lower Case Letters, that's only available at his live shows for now. It'll be available online and via iTunes in February.
