Artist of the day: Southern Hospitality

Damon Fowler is a regular on the Tampa Bay blues scene and beyond. And his newish blues supergroup is getting pretty well known, too.

Southern Hospitality, featuring blues guitarists Fowler and J.P. Soars, plus pianist Victor Wainwright, has brought their bluesy boogie-woogie to festivals around Tampa Bay over the past year and a half.

"Luckily for us, all of us have been in a bunch of different situations, so there's not a lot of ego," Fowler told tbt* in March. "Victor plays a lot of boogie-woogie music that really lends itself greatly to what I do and what J.P. does. (J.P. is) like Michael Jordan on the guitar — he's an incredible guitar player. He does a lot of gypsy jazz sounding stuff."

On Saturday, Southern Hospitality will headline this year's Bluesapalooza, which starts at noon at Linda Pedersen Park, 6300 Shoal Line Blvd., Hernando Beach. They'll perform at 7 p.m. Admission is $1-$5. Click here for details.
