Artist of the day: Talk To Mark
In 2008, Talk To Mark released their debut CD of original bar-rock songs, Unfamiliar. Since then, the band -- currently comprising singer-guitarist Mark Murphy, bassist Joe Arruda and drummer Gene Young -- has continued playing bars, clubs and plenty of festivals.
The band founded in 2005, and their alted-up style of rock 'n' roll is diverse enough to enable them to perform at WMNF tribute shows ranging from The Clash to John Lennon to 1979 (they played The Cars) to Woodstock (Creedence Clearwater Revival).
Check them out this weekend when they play at Ribfest in St. Petersburg. They'll be appearing at 3:15 p.m. Saturday on the Water Side Stage at Vinoy Waterfront Park. Tickets to Ribfest, which also features appearances by Luke Bryan, Rick Springfield and the Doobie Brothers, are $10-$15. Click here for all the details.
