Artist of the day: Through You

After a glimpse at national fame a couple of years ago, Winter Park modern grunge band Through You is pushing ahead with a DIY approach to independent success.

In 2007, the group -- singer Michael Kirkland, guitarist Jeremy Morris, guitarist Billy Rufrano and Sam Detrent and drummer King van den Berg (whose brother, Michael, was also a founding member of the group) -- was part of Korn's Family Values Tour, based on the strength of their impressively produced 2006 EP Silhouette. A self-titled EP followed, and since then, the band has toured hard working on a new, self-financed record.

They still know how to stand alongside the big boys, though. On Saturday, Through You will perform on the 98 Rock stage at Guavaween in Ybor City, alongside the Genitorturers, Fuel, Saving Abel and more. Click here for all the details. After that, they'll be at the Deland Music Festival in Deland on Nov. 6. Click here for details.
