Artist of the day: The Tim Version

first Ultimate Local Music Guide was published in 2007 (click here to read it!), and one of the first bands we spotlighted was The Tim Version. That's the photo we ran of the band, above.

For more than 10 years, the Tampa-by-way-of-Gainesville punk crew have stayed true to their raw, ragged No Idea Records hardcore sound (think Against Me! and Alkaline Trio), and are a favorite live local punk act at venues like the Brass Mug and Emerald Bar. Singer-guitarist Russ Van Cleave, guitarist Scott Laval, basist Mike Paul and drummer Shawn Watkins played in every corner of the country and even England and Japan, and have released a slew of CDs and 7-inches.

On Friday night, they're performing with the Crash Mitchell Five and Skull and Bone Band at New World Brewery in Ybor City. Tickets are $7. Click here for details.

Check out the track W.H.A. from their 2008 album Decline of the Southern Gentleman, below.
