Artist of the day: Twinkle

Twinkle bills herself as “the most famous person you never heard of.” We’d like to think a full name like Twinkle Schascle Ursula Yochim is one you don’t forget.

The Sarasota native has performed around the world performing and recording with a wide range of A-list artists: Aerosmith, Quincy Jones, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Dickie Betts. She recorded backing vocals for the Rod Stewart song Vagabond Heart. And she’s a quality rock/soul/country singer in her own right. Twenty years ago, she released her debut album via Warner Brothers, Haunted by Real Life.

This weekend, Twinkle will mark the 20th anniversary of Haunted by Real Life with a hometown concert at the Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall, alongside ‘70s rockers Ambrosia (Better Part Of Me). The concert is at 8 p.m. Saturday; tickets are $25-$100. Click here for details.
