Artist of the day: USF Professional Choral Institute
For the second straight year, the University of South Florida can claim it has a Grammy nominee on campus.
Last year it was Chuck Owen, a USF jazz professor who was nominated for Best Instrumental Arrangment. This year it's the Professional Choral Institute, which is based at USF. The group's collaboration with Miami-based Seraphic Fire is nominated in the category of Best Choral Performance for Brahms: Ein Deutsches Requiem, Op. 45, which was recorded at USF's concert hall in Tampa. Nine USF students are among those nominated for the performance.
"The whole thing is kind of like a daze to me," said 20-year-old Alex Solomon, above. "Did we even do this?"
