Artist of the day: Victims of Circumstance

Clearwater-based Victims of Circumstance have performed with a slew of ska-punk heavyweights, from the Pietasters to the Mighty Mighty Bosstones — which is no surprise, considering their debut LP, Do It Yourself, was produced by Bosstone Tim "Johnny Vegas" Burton.

Singer-guitarist Michael Smyth and drummer Glenn Stewart form the core of the band, with bassist Alan Garcia, trombonist Aaron Zylman and saxman Jason Atheney rounding out the jam-packed sound. Their second album, due this summer, was produced by Steve Foote of Big D and the Kids Table.

"This new album is punk and ska again, but horns I think on every single song," Stewart said this spring. "We stepped up the ska angle, and are super-excited about it."
