Artist of the day: WD-Han

Historically, drugs and rock 'n' roll go hand in hand. Unless you're in WD-Han.

The Clearwater jam-rock band comprises four members -- Spencer Barnes on vocals, Cal Henry on guitar, Lea Campbell on drums and Forrest Conner on bass -- who all work as trained drug educators.

The band's music isn't overtly anti-drug -- Barnes compares their sound to Incubus, Third Eye Blind and Jimi Hendrix -- but they do like to take a positive approach to what they do.

"We have each been to schools, after-school programs and juvenile detention centers all over Tampa Bay doing drug education for the last couple of years," Barnes said. "We love rock, but don't think that we have to get too 'serious' about playing it, we love to have fun and want people to have fun listening to our music."

WD-Han (it stands for "We Don't Have A Name") performs Saturday night at the Brass Mug with C.J. Everett and the Barefoot Boys and Open Output. Tickets are $5-$8.

WD-Han plays covers and a few originals live; they're currently working on an EP. Click here to listen to their original track Color of Friend.
