Artist of the day: William Dillon

Tampa Bay was abuzz this week with the story of William Michael Dillon, a singer from North Carolina who spent more than 27 years wrongly imprisoned in Florida.

Dillon went behind bars in 1981 for the murder of a man in Canova Beach. It wasn't until 2008 that DNA testing exonerated him from the crime. For his full story, click here and here.

Since then, he's released an album of folk music, Black Robes and Lawyers, that includes some songs he wrote in prison. And this week, he was invited to sing the national anthem and toss out the first pitch at a Tampa Bay Rays game. To hear how he sounded, check out Dirk Shadd's video above.
