Artist of the day: Young Egypt
Like mad scientists in a lab, the St. Pete buddies known as Young Egypt tinker with beeps, blips, hums, fuzz and other assorted electronic effects late into the night. The outcome is a melodic, lo-fi sound akin to Neon Indian or Memory Tapes.
Check out this endorsement from Sarasota act Sons of Hippies: "Gotta check out Young Egypt, a two-piece rockin' electrofuzz/experimental abyss out of suitcases, if we're lucky."
Want a taste of Young Egypt? See their trippy, chillwavey video for Crystalis Pyramid Scheme: First You Get The Money, above. And if you want to see 'em live, head to Crowbar on May 15, opening for Parallels. Tickets are $10. Click here for details.
