Avril Lavigne talks baseball, fashion and modern pop music

Avril Lavigne is not a name that comes to mind when you think of the Tampa Bay Rays. But maybe it should.
Lavigne, who will perform a free concert following the Rays' game Saturday against the Cleveland Indians (first pitch is 4:10 p.m.; click here for details), played baseball as a tot in Canada -- "I was a pitcher," she says; "I won a championship" -- and is excited for what she thinks will be her first post-baseball-game concert.
During a recent phone interview, Lavigne, 26, talked about her fashion line, her new album and whether, in the age of Lady Gaga, she's feeling any pressure to be more theatrical:
I definitely stick to my style. I don’t really follow the trends. I am aware that it’s very much a thing to be very rhythmic and overproduced and very dance pop on radio today, and a lot of singers are over the top with their wardrobes and costumes, and that’s great because that’s who they are. But I’ve never really been like that. I just dress how I feel. I like to be comfortable.
