Bon Iver coming to the Straz Center in Tampa
Stop the presses, because we just got the best Bonnaroo-runoff news you can imagine: Bon Iver is coming to Tampa.
The 2012 Best New Artist Grammy winner will perform at the Straz Center in Tampa on June 7, according to a press release from the venue. Tickets start at $39.50 and will go onsale at noon Saturday (4/7). Click here for details.
Justin Vernon and company have come a long way since we saw them in 2009, when Bon Iver -- then just a four-piece lo-fi folk band -- played the State Theatre. As mesmerizing as Vernon's For Emma, Forever Ago was, he built on it in unimaginable ways with last year's Hornsby/Cetera-influenced self-titled album, which also won the Grammy for Best Alternative Album. Call 'em snoozy if you must (we're looking at you, Timberlake), but the video for Holocene was gorgeous and unforgettable, and the sprawling synth-fest Beth/Rest was like no other song released in 2011. After Bon Iver leaves Tampa, they'll be on their way to Manchester, Tenn., for Bonnaroo, where they'll be one of this year's top-billed acts. This, friends, is a can't-miss show.
Also, it looks like we can put this question to bed. What an upset!
