Built to Spill coming to the State Theatre

It's weird: We here at SoundcheckCorp. love indie rock, and we love rock from the '90s. But when it comes to indie rock FROM the '90s, we find ourselves curiously ambivalent.

Pavement and Sleater-Kinney and Red House Painters were pretty good, but ... Yo La Tengo ... Modest Mouse ... Guided By Voices ... Dinosaur Jr. ... Sebadoh... Superchunk ... meh. None of them really did as much for us as they do for every other other music writer on earth. Although we do fondly recall that one time David Cross wore a Creeper Lagoon shirt on Mr. Show.

So it is with a fully halfhearted shrug that we relay the news that Built to Spill is coming to the State Theatre this fall. The Boise, Idaho rockers will play the State at 8 p.m. Oct. 16. Tickets are $19-$21, or less than half of what Smashing Pumpkins are charging for a show this summer at the Ritz Ybor (mainstream '90s alternative rules!). Click here for details.

We'll probably skip this one. If you think we're idiots, tell us why in the comments, or simply ship us a copy of your next poorly Xeroxed Matador Records fan 'zine.
