Childish Gambino, Wale added to Wild Splash 2012 lineup

We don't think we're speaking out of turn here when we say the initial 2012 Wild Splash lineup left us feeling kind of ... meh. DMXWaka Flocka Flame? That's the best Wild 94.1 can do?

Well, the Wild Splash lineup just took a sharp turn for the awesome. Wale and Childish Gambino (above), two hip-hop acts that are as beloved (if not more so) by the indie-Pitchfork crowd as they are mainstream hip-hop audiences, have been added to the show on March 10 at Coachman Park. So has Houston rapper Kirko Bangz, but it's hard to get quite as excited about that.

Gambino, of course, is the hip-hop alter ego of comedian Donald Glover, a.k.a. Troy from Community. Combine that with Wale's Seinfeld obsession, and this is becoming a "must-see" lineup. (Oh yes we DID just make a Thursdays-on-NBC reference. Is this concert being produced by Entertainment 720?).

The full lineup: DMX, Wale, Waka Flocka Flame, Childish Gambino, Machine Gun Kelly, Future, Tae Bae Bae, Mindless Behavior, Kirko Bangz and Famous Kid Brick. The show is March 10 at Coachman Park in Clearwater. Tickets are $25. Click here for details.
