Chonda Pierce talks Christian comedy, finding inspiration and dealing with depression

In what is a truly busy week for comedy in Tampa Bay -- including shows by Richard Lewis, Carlos Mencia, Eddie Griffin, Gabriel Iglesias, Josh Blue and the Trailer Park Boys -- it's tough for a comic to stand out.

But Chonda Pierce's fans already know where she'll be.

Pierce is one of the top Christian comics in the nation, and is a frequent performer at churches everywere, including in Florida.

“The only difference between the church crowd and a club crowd is the two-drink minimum,” Pierce told tbt* while on the road earlier this week. “I have the added challenge of performing to a sober crowd.”

On Friday, Pierce appears at 7 p.m. at Bell Shoals Baptist Church, 2102 Bell Shoals Road in Brandon, for the "Live, Laugh, Love Girlfriends Weekend." Tickets are $30 for the weekend. For more info, click here.
