Chris Tucker coming to the Mahaffey Theater
One of the men you see before you is about to perform stand-up comedy at the Mahaffey Theater in St. Petersburg. We'd let the suspense build, but we figure you probably already read the headline, so, uh, never mind.
Yes, Chris Tucker is coming to the Mahaffey Theater in December. (We know you were hoping it would be Jackie Chan, but no dice.) The same venue that's hosting Garrison Keillor, Lyle Lovett and Anthony Bourdain in November is also getting the man who made famous the phrase, "Don't you ever touch a black man's radio!" Seems about right.
Tucker will perform two sets, at 7:30 and 10 p.m. Dec. 3, and tickets are scheduled to go onsale at noon Oct. 30. They'll be priced at $37.50-$67.50.
Tucker is supposedly a pretty solid stand-up comic, though we have to say, he does seem to get a lot of credit for a pretty small body of work. Friday, The Rush Hour series, being friends with Michael Jackson and Bill Clinton ... that's about it. Are we missing something? (Not sure why he's touring now, either. Maybe he needs the money.)
Nevertheless: It's a good get for the venue. We just hope we can understand the words coming out of his mouth.
