Christian rock invasion (Rock the Universe, Night of Joy) set for September in Orlando

Skillet

It's one of the biggest weekends of the year on the contemporary Christian calendar.

For one weekend each fall, Universal Orlando attracts a huge cadre of Christian artists to the park for Rock the Universe, a two-day festival featuring some of the biggest names in Christian pop and rock. That same world, Disney World holds Night of Joy, which is pretty much the same thing.

This year, both events take place Sept. 10-11, and details about each lineup are coming out online. Here's how the events break down:

Rock the Universe: On Friday, Sept. 10, your headliners are Newsboys, Jars of Clay and Skillet (above), plus Hawk Nelson, Decyfer Down, Kutless and Chuck Tocco. On Saturday, Sept. 11, it'll be TobyMac, Relient K and Jeremy Camp, plus Needtobreathe, Fireflight, Grits and Regie Hamm. Guest speakers include Renee Yohe and Jamie Tworkowski of To Write Love On Her Arms and Will Tant.

Advance two-day tickets are $84.95, one-night tickets are $49.95; group discounts are available. Tickets are only good after 4 p.m., and only to Universal Orlando, not Islands of Adventure. There is, however, a "Rock Your Weekend" ticket available that covers park and concert admission Friday, Saturday and Sunday; it's only $99.95. Click here to purchase.

Night of Joy: On Friday, Sept. 10, headliners include Chris Tomlin, David Crowder Band and Casting Crowns, plus BarlowGirl, Franceska Battistelli, Group 1 Crew, Tenth Avenue North and Sidewalk Prophets. On Saturday, Sept. 11, it'll be MercyMe, Third Day and Family Force, with Smokie Norful, Red, LeCrae, Day of Fire and Britt Nicole.

Advance two-day tickets are $89.95; single-day tickets are $49.95; group discounts are available. Click here to purchase. (Park admission is not included with tickets to either event, so buy accordingly.)
