Citizen Cope coming to Jannus Live in St. Petersburg
Despite the presence of a Dan Aykroyd-backed vodka lounge, Any concern that Jannus Live might go all corporate on us has to be gone at this point.
Last fall, you had that two-night stand by Sublime With Rome. And this year, Jannus keeps adding jam and funk shows left and right: Yonder Mountain String Band, Iration, Slightly Stoopid with Fishbone, G. Love and Special Sauce and Rebelution. (How they missed out on moe. at the Ritz Ybor is beyond us.)
Now throw another Bonnaroo-style jammer on the pile: Citizen Cope.
According to his website, Citizen Cope's Clarence Greenwood will bring his solo acoustic tour to Jannus Live on March 26. Ticket are reportedly a very reasonable $20-$25.
We wouldn't be shocked if this show sells out -- you might recall that Citizen Cope played to a crowd of 1,800 last spring at Jannus Live. Their fans are pretty devoted. (Worth noting: This is a Saturday night show on the weekend of the Honda Grand Prix of St. Pete. So there will be larger than usual crowds in downtown St. Petersburg. We're told the venue is looking at some additional events for that weekend, but nothing is confirmed yet.)
Geez, with a spring lineup like this, St. Pete will be crawling with hemp-clad hippies for the forseeable future. They should just move Wanee to Jannus Live and be done with it.
