Clearwater Jazz Holiday: Trombone Shorty, Maceo Parker, Kevin Eubanks lead lineup

A couple of years ago, at Tropical Heatwave 2009, Soundcheck fell hard for Trombone Shorty and Orleans Avenue. The funkified N'awlins 'boner with a hip-hop bent looked like "one of the next great charismatic frontmen in music," we wrote.

Now Trombone Shorty and company are headlining the opening night of the 2011 Clearwater Jazz Holiday, and will no doubt be the most crowd-pleasing performer -- or, at least, the guy who will get casual jazz fans the most pumped up -- of this year's show.

The full lineup by day:

Oct. 13: Trombone Shorty and Orleans Avenue, Kevin Eubanks, Global Affect

Oct. 14: Brian Culbertson, Miss Tess and the Bon Ton Parade, Gerald Clayton Trio, Valerie Gillespie Ensemble

Oct. 15: Maceo Parker, Sammy Figueroa and the Latin Explosion, LaRue Nickelson Group, Whitney James, Jazz Juvenocracy

Oct. 16: Dianne Reeves, Christion McBride and Inside Straight, Mike Markaverich Trio, Ruth Eckerd Hall/Clearwater Jazz Holiday Youth Band
