Before coming to Brandon, Barbara Bailey Hutchison talks children's music

In 1996, Barbara Bailey Hutchison won a Grammy for Sleepy Time Lullabyes, her collection of children's lullabies. But Hutchison's not coming to town next week to sing anyone to sleep.

"We're going to have fun. That's No. 1," Hutchison said in a recent telephone interview of her upcoming benefit performance for children's programs at Brandon's Center Place.

Hutchison says her Feb. 11 show at Center Place will cater more to the adult crowd. Expect lyric-driven acoustic songs about love, life, spirituality and Hutchison's benign brand of politics.

"My message is: We're all in this together, and we all need to get along," she said. "Hopefully, if nothing else, they'll come away with that."

The show is at 7:30 p.m. Feb. 11 at the Center Place Fine Arts & Civic Association, 619 Vonderburg Drive, Brandon. For $25 tickets, call  (813) 685-8888.
